How to tell the birds from the flowers

Everyone loves getting post - for me it's recently got more interesting since I started freelancing (yay! - a cheque!) and joined lovefilm (yay! - a DVD!) . But the best little package was waiting for me this morning. Lovely Kate of Wisdom sent me this little gem - A handy guide for if you have problems with telling birds apart from flowers...

The shout

Wow, I just watched this kind of by accident, I didn't know it was horror film, but it's great.
It's about a man that can kill people with his shout... another one of those films that totally wouldn't get made now days.

Casting nets

I had written this on the back of an envelope and was about to throw it away when I saw it. I have no idea where its from -

'He came over and sat on the sofa, his weight sent a tremor, the warmth and sweetness of his body began casting nets'

Edward Bawden's house

So beautiful photographed by Roy Hammans. He says this :

"In December 1989, Olive Smith asked me if I would photograph the interior of Edward Bawden's house in Saffron Walden, Essex, following his death on November 21st, aged 87. I had never met Edward, but admired his style, his imagination and the skilled craftsmanship he brought to his artwork in a variety of visual media. I agreed instantly.

From the outside, his house was an unprepossessing Edwardian semi-detached in a quiet street in Saffron Walden, Essex, that gave little clue to the treasures within. Every room held visual delights - not least of which were the variety of wallpapers, some designed by Bawden - and the collection of prints, paintings and drawings, furniture and pottery that filled every available space."
