stroked in stoke

So last weekend three girlfriends and I went up to Stoke On Trent to visit the pottery bienniel that is going on there for the next couple of months (The website is here).

It's so sad that there is almost nothing left of the place that once housed England's ceramic heart. On a dull slightly rainy Sunday we went to see the closed down Royal Doulton factory and ate oat cakes - the local take away food...They are pancake like things and are heated on a griddle with cheese in the middle (and totally delicious).

We all felt so depressed and sad after this experience we had to rush to the Wedgewood Outlet Centre and buy lots of ceramics to ease our guilty conscience from years of buying Ikea and Habitat plates...
